Grape-growing is becoming more and more popular in Northern Europe. In order to share information about creating the right conditions for grape vines, the Chair of Horticulture of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, in cooperation with Murimäe Wine Cellar, arranged a demonstration workshop in the LIFE AgriAdapt pilot farm on 31 August 2018. Discussions were held on local wines and whether Estonia could become a true wine-producing country. Those attending the workshop heard how climate change could affect the growth of permanent cultures and learned about the agrotechnical approaches that can be used to mitigate the risks to grape-growing caused by climate change. They also discovered what a harvest year is like in a fruit-bearing vineyard at Rõhu Gardens, while at Murimäe they were shown how to establish grapevines on the side of a hill.
