On 25th Sept 2019 a workshop on “Climate change and its consequences” took place in Hohenems, Vorarlberg (A) organised by the Lake of Constance Academy. The participants came from different fields – agriculture, administration, agricultural technical school, interested private persons and scientists.
As a basis for this workshop, the Lake Constance Foundation presented the EU LIFE project LIFE AgriAdapt. One of the key questions was how to sensitise farmers to climate change and how to adapt their farms. In particular, the work of projects that cooperate with farms and the inclusion of practical applications in technical school teaching were highlighted as particularly important.
The participants agreed that the establishment or maintenance of a good soil structure is one of the most important levers for the adaptation of agriculture to climate change and that it should be given a greater role in the teaching of technical schools.
