The majority of Europe was affected by unusually early, and intense, heatwaves during June 2019. Spain, eastern France, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia suffered the greatest impact of the heatwave on annual crops.

More information on the extent and impacts of these heatwaves is available in the Mars Bulletin published by the Joint Research Center, the European Commission’s science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
